Event: celebrating the BIG DAY in Aswan

We’re celebrating the BIG DAY!
On May 10th, Aswan Birdwatching participated in the celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, contributing to our ongoing efforts to promote bird awareness and conservation.

celebrating the BIG DAY

Yesterday morning, Aswan Birdwatching had the pleasure of participating in a truly special event—an inspiring birding trip on the Nile River to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day (Big Day). The outing was a collaborative success, organized in partnership with OSME, NCE, SOBEK PLANET, TABE’A, and supported by the local environmental authorities at the River Nile Islands Protected Area.

Big Day

We’re proud to have played a part in this meaningful celebration, which not only highlighted the beauty of migratory birds but also aligned with the 2025 theme: creating bird-friendly cities and communities.

The event brought together a wonderfully diverse group of participants, including children and their families, teachers, artists, doctors, professional birders, and wildlife photographers. Through this shared experience, we aimed to inspire the next generation, raise awareness about the importance of bird conservation, and grow the birdwatching community in Aswan.

Big day

Over the course of the 2.5-hour boat trip, we recorded 32 different bird species—an exciting achievement for all involved!
