Winter Count 2026 marked the beginning of the year with purpose, uniting birdwatchers, nature lovers, and volunteers in a shared effort to record wintering birds. More than a simple field activity, the count highlighted the value of citizen science, community engagement, and long-term conservation data that help protect vulnerable species and key habitats.
The second edition of Aswan Birdwatching’s ‘Birding For All’ initiative welcomed participants with visual, hearing, speaking, and intellectual disabilities, along with their families, for an inclusive birdwatching experience on the Nile islands.

On May 10th, Aswan Birdwatching participated in the celebration of World Migratory Bird Day, contributing to our ongoing efforts to promote bird awareness and conservation.

World Migratory Bird Day 2025 is a call to action to make this vision a reality. This global campaign, celebrated on May 10th and October 11th, 2025, aims to protect migratory birds and their habitats by promoting bird-friendly urban planning and conservation efforts.
Last February, Aswan Birdwatching participated in the celebration of World Day for Wetlands, a global event held annually to raise awareness about the importance of wetlands and the need to conserve and protect them. The event was organized by Sobek Planet.
On January 25, 2025, our team organized a successful birding and clean-up event along the majestic River Nile in Aswan.
